“Sha la la, Joseph, you’re doing fine! You and your dreamcoat, ahead of your time!” One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors.

Performances will take place at The Gin at Nesbit.

ADULT ROLES (Ages 14+)
All actors interested in any of the adult roles should sign up for a vocal audition appointment on Saturday, March 1st, after 2pm. Please click here to reserve your time slot. All adults must attend a mandatory dance call on Saturday, March 1st at 6:30pm. If you cannot attend the dance call, please email companymanagerdft@gmail.com.

CHILDREN'S ENSEMBLE (Ages 6 - 13)
All actors interested in auditioning for the Children's Ensemble should sign up for a vocal audition appointment on Saturday, March 1st, before 1pm. Please click here to reserve your time slot.​​​​​

DANCE CALL (Adults only)
A mandatory dance call for actors ages 14+ will take place on Saturday, March 1st, at 6:30pm. Please dress appropriately for the dance call. No flip flops or sandals.

Callbacks will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, beginning at 6:00pm by invitation only.

WHO: Casting all roles in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Actors ages 6+.​
WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare 32 bars (30-60 seconds) of a song that best suits your vocal range. We recommend you sing a song from the show, but you are welcome to bring a song in the style of the show. We will provide tracks from the show. If you are singing a song that is not from the show, please provide your own track. A bluetooth speaker will be provided. No Acapella auditions. WHAT TO BRING: Please bring an 8x10 headshot and résumé stapled. If you do not have a headshot, please bring a current photo. Bring a completed audition form. You can find this form at the bottom of this page.

If you are unable to attend auditions on March 1st, you may submit a video audition. All video submissions must be received by 5:00 PM CST on Friday, February 28th. Please include a 30-60 second vocal selection in the style of the show. Once you are ready to submit, be sure to include your video audition, headshot, résumé, and completed audition form. Send all materials to companymanagerdft@gmail.com. If anything additional is needed from you, we will contact you.

​CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
​
NARRATOR – An actress with a strong rock singing voice (high belt to E, full range Mezzo) who is strong on comedy and moves well.
JOSEPH – Tenor. The eleventh son of Jacob. Obviously his father's favorite, Joseph early on shows a talent for interpreting dreams and telling the future. This gets him into trouble with his brothers when he predicts his future will include ruling over the other eleven. However, it saves his life when in Egypt he correctly interprets Pharaoh's dreams. In the end he has risen to a great position of power, but he still forgives his brothers and brings his family to Egypt to partake of the bounty he has accumulated there.
JACOB – JOSEPH’s father. An actor in his 40s-60s with a baritone voice. Strong character actor who can sing and move well.
JOSEPH'S BROTHERS – Eleven brothers with strong singing voices and the ability to dance. Will also double as general ensemble in some scenes.

POTIPHAR – Rich, self-indulgent, and sophisticated Egyptian capitalist. Makes Joseph the leader of his household. Strong character actor with a powerful speaking voice.
MRS. POTIPHAR – Alto/Mezzo. Indulgent and confident in her pursuit of what she wants, which at this time happens to be Joseph. Experienced dancer.
BUTLER – Male or Female, Tenor or Mezzo – Pharaoh’s right hand. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Butler’s dreams to a positive outcome. May also be cast as a member of the greater ensemble.
BAKER – Male or Female, Tenor or Mezzo – Head of Pharaoh’s kitchen. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Baker’s dreams to a less-than-positive outcome. May also be cast as a member of the greater ensemble
PHAROAH – Good actor/singer with Tenor/Baritone range. Elvis Presley impersonator type who moves well.
WIVES – Female, Various vocal ranges. The 11 wives of Joseph’s 11 brothers. Skilled dancers and singers. Will also double as general ensemble in some scenes.
ENSEMBLE – Male and Female, Various vocal ranges – Actors, singers, and dancers serving as Ishmaelites, Egyptians, Canaanites, and other characters within Joseph’s story.
CHILDREN'S ENSEMBLE – Boys and girls, ages 6-13.
